Turkey knows Thanksgiving is coming. He also knows he does not want to be the main course. So what's a feathered friend to do? Well, he has a plan: he'll be a horse. Well, his costume isn't enough to make him look like a horse, so maybe he'll be a cow! Will that work? When Farmer Jake can't find Turkey, he decides they'll have rooster for dinner. Uh oh!

This is a clever, fun book. It would make an exceptional story-time book at school or the library. With all of Turkey's costumes, it is easy to get the kids thinking about disguises and making their own costumes. The illustrations really help bring out the humor!

Although the story is set around Thanksgiving, this is one you could read before Halloween to get kids thinking about - and creating - clever costumes. Turkey uses household items to create his disguises, which can get kids thinking about different ways to use things.
