When Bat Was A Bird And Other Animal Tales From Africa

With animals as the main characters, these stories are explanations about how animals came to have certain traits, as well as allegories about human nature.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

The stories are short so you can sit and read them all at once or just one at a time. The illustrations are great, and the fact sheet accompanying each story helps make the stories "modern.

Content Awareness Factors:

Young Reader Reaction

This was a wonderful book, with so many good short stories. The beautiful pictures leave you feeling like part of the story. A great book for children and adults alike. You learn some thing new from each and every page of the book. There are 24 stories to read and share with friends, parents, sisters, and brothers. My favorite story was Why the Reed Warbler Babbles. This isn’t the only great story in the book. In fact there wasn’t a single story I didn’t like!

The stories were fascinating. Many were not unlike other oral histories that have been lovingly preserved, still, they were a wonderful read.
