While The World Is Sleeping
What do animals like deer and fish do while we are sleeping? A little boy flies through the night with only the moon to guide him. Along the way, he sees what the various animals do.
This picture book offers simple explanations to answer kids' questions about how some animals are active while we are sleeping.
The pictures were dark and the story - given how much factual data is included - is unrealistic.
My daughter picked this book because she was curious what animals do at night. She enjoyed learning about the activities, but said the pages were too dark and hard to see the details in the pictures. Even still, she wanted to read the book again.
I thought the pictures were a little dark, too. The story itself is informative as it shows you how some animals stay up at night. It is a little unbelievable that the boy takes off flying through the night but the concept of the book was good. It would have been better to have the boy just watching from the window or actually going for a walk or something like that.
This informational picture book is told with bold pictures on a nighttime background.
This is a good starter book to talk about animal habitat, animal habits, and the concept of nocturnal animals.
