Think Positive - Book & CD Set

From the moment he woke up until he fell off to sleep, a young boy offers thoughts about the positive things in his world. Throughout the book he follows up his activities with questions for the reader/listener about his/her own day.

Reader Enjoyment Factors:

The book engages the reader to participate and build a story from the material. The CD is a nice complement and offers kids the opportunity to listen/read along when Mom and Dad are busy.

Content Awareness Factors:

It would have been nice to have a separate track for the questions, thus giving the material more separation from the book itself.

Little Kid Reaction

Before we even finished the first reading, our kindergartener was repeating and asking "What went righ today." The next morning, without prompting, she started repeating elements from the book. It wasn't long before she was singing along with the CD and "answering" the questions.

Big Kid Reaction

We expected the repetitious "WWRT" to become tedious, but that hasn't happened. The music is a nice complement, though we find it more enjoyable to read and talk about the book with our child.

Type of Book:
This is a rhyming picture book with a story and questions to help kids think affirmatively. The CD offers a musical reading of the material.
Educational Themes:

The format makes it easy to open a discussion about positive things that happen, things we can do/did do, or feelings, whether by reading just one page or a group of pages.

Reading Level:
Recommended Age To Read By Yourself:
7 to 10
Recommended Age To Read Together:
3 to 8
Age of child:
Started reading with 4½-year-old child.
Purchase Recommendation:
Buy. This is a book that will offer different thoughts at different ages. For young listeners/pre-readers, it might instill a sense of self, for independent readers it might spark some philanthropy!
