Still Playing Catch-up

Recovering from BEA has been slow going … no doubt due in part to the fact that (1) I keep opening picture books and read blurbs on chapter books as I pull them from the boxes;

(2) There are great reaction and wrap-up posts all over the lit blogosphere.  There are some great discussions. It is worth following along; and

updated: (3) I keep making mistakes like hitting “post” instead of preview!

As a final BEA note,  check out MotherReader’s Hot Titles list at Booklights.  She talks about three of the best-buzzed books from the event.

So I find myself lost and falling further behind.  Before I lose any more blog cred (like street cred, only virtual), let me post a couple of notices.

Literacy Lava – the brainchild of Susan Stephenson (the Book Chook) launches on Monday. As each of the other contributing authors has said, this is a wonderfully creative effort. I’m very excited about the potential for this new eZine.

Just in time for summer – when we have more opportunities to read with our kids – Jill at the Well-Read Child has launched a What My Kids are Reading MEME.  Each Thursday she’ll round-up a list of posts about what kids are reading and/or what we’re reading with kids.  I love that it can be any adult, not just relatives, and that kids are part of the conversation. From Jill:

Your posts can be a list of books you’re reading with your kids, books your kids are reading on their own, old favorites that get picked up again and again, summaries of your favorite books you love to read together, books you just started reading with your kids, etc.

More, current news soon … I promise.
